Darren Jones is the Technology Manager at Hitachi Energy UK with a responsibility for promoting Hitachi’s technology portfolio to the UK electricity transmission and distribution utilities. Darren also supports the development of Hitachi Energy’s UK Net Zero technology roadmap that will be required meet the future low carbon challenges for the UK regulated electricity utilities through liaising with academia and a broad range of internal and external industry stakeholders​

Darren started his engineering career at ABB Power Quality Division in the mid-1990s designing Power Quality solutions and Harmonic Filters for industrial applications before moving into Consultancy where he led a Substation Research Group focused on developing enhanced asset management solutions for future Smart Grids. Darren then spent a number of years at a UK Distribution Network Owner as Innovation Manager before re-joining ABB in 2018 prior to the formation of Hitachi Energy in 2020​

Darren holds a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, is a Chartered Engineer and is a Visiting Researcher at Imperial College London and a member of the CIGRE UK Executive Committee
